Golden Hour Lifestyle Session at the Beach

There's something magical about a sunset on the beach, especially when capturing the joy and love of a family in natural light. This past week I met up with one of my favorite families at their home in Madison, CT, for a lifestyle family photography session. We began our session right at their doorstep, filled with anticipation and excitement. Their home, conveniently located just across the street from the beach, set the perfect stage for our adventure.
As the sun began its descent, casting a warm, golden glow over everything, we made our way to the shore. The beach was quiet with the low sun creating beautiful, soft light perfect for natural light photography. The only downside? The bugs! After generously applying bug spray, we were ready to enjoy the evening. Once on the beach, the fun began. We eagerly explored, tossing rocks into the waves, looking for shells and marveling at the discovery of a horseshoe crab. At the water's edge, the family played together, and I captured candid moments filled with laughter and joy. One of the most heart-stopping moments was when dad tossed their baby boy high into the air, creating a picture-perfect scene that had me holding my breath as I snapped the shot! These are the moments that make lifestyle family sessions so special – genuine, spontaneous, and full of life.
As the sun set, we began our walk back home, bathed in the soft, golden light that photographers dream of. Once back, we took a few more family photos, this time with Rigatoni, the family's beloved dog. It was an extra special occasion as it was Rigatoni's birthday, adding an extra layer of joy to our session. Baby boy played around, emptying the sand from his shoes and zooming his Lightening McQueen across the deck, while Rigatoni happily posed for the camera, making for some delightful and heartwarming shots.
This session was a beautiful reminder of why I love being a Connecticut lifestyle photographer. Capturing these fleeting moments of connection and joy in a family's life, especially against the stunning backdrop of a sunset on the Madison beach, is truly a privilege.
