This week, my daughter turned our backyard into her workshop. With an abundance of acorns, a handful of sticks, and freshly picked daisies, she set out to design her first acorn fairy. A glue gun, a steady hand, and some serious problem-solving later, she had built not just one fairy—but an entire family.

Of course, we had to take them back outside for a proper photo shoot. We learned that acorn fairies don’t exactly love standing up on their own (those twig legs can be tricky!), but watching her determination to pose them just right made it all the more fun.

How to Make an Acorn Fairy

If you’d like to create your own backyard magic, here’s what you need:

🌱 Small sticks for arms and legs

🌰 An acorn or nut for the head

🌼 A flower for the crown - or a little skirt - daisies work beautifully!

✨ Hot glue to hold everything together (grown-up help required)

Capturing Childhood Memories

As I watched my daughter carefully build and arrange her fairy family, I was reminded of why I love lifestyle photography so much. It’s never about creating the perfect pose—it’s about living in the moment and capturing the joy of the everyday.

This acorn fairy won’t last forever. But the memory of my daughter’s determination—sketching out her ideas in her mind, troubleshooting wobbly legs, and confidently arranging her creations in the sunlight for their photo shoot—that is what lasts.
